Our Leadership

David L. MacDonald , Producer/Director Dave created Best of Broadway in 1973 and has produced and directed the show every year since its opening. Dave received Sacramento’s 1987 Elly Award for Community Service for his contribution of Best of Broadway. In 1996 he won the Elly Award for Best Production and Best Director of a Musical for "Cotton Patch Gospel". Dave has also received Elly nominations for Hard Job Being God. Best of Broadway has been nominated for the Arts Excellence Award by the Business Volunteers for the Arts (now the Arts & Business Council.) Dave is the owner and artistic director of the Broadway Academy of Performing Arts. (BAPA is not affiliated with Best of Broadway in any way.) He is also a professional singer whose repertoire ranges from opera to rock-n-roll. A native of Sacramento, he began dramatic acting while attending Graceland College in Lamoni, Iowa. Dave has been associated with the Miss Sacramento and Miss California shows and the Junior Miss Pageant. He was co-producer of Show Biz Is, producer of Getting Better Every Year at North Shore, Lake Tahoe and producer/director of Peace Child. As his special inspiration and support, Dave credits his wife, Sharrie and their sons and wives, Aaron & Michelle and Jeremy & Andrea.
